The game also achieved 1.5 million copies sold across all platforms.
The gaming industry continues to see robust performance from both established franchises and independent titles on Steam, as evidenced by recent sales data from September 2025. The primary driver of last week’s market activity was the launch of Dying Light: The Beast, which achieved over one million copies sold on Steam and 1.5 million across all platforms. This success is largely attributed to the existing franchise player base, with 82% of its Steam audience having previously played the original Dying Light.
Independent games maintained a strong presence in the weekly top-selling rankings. Notable performers included Borderlands 4, which moved over 300,000 copies, and Silksong, which surpassed 250,000. Other indie titles, such as the co-op climbing game Peak and the psychological horror title No, I’m Not Human, also saw significant sales volume. Furthermore, Hades experienced a surge in popularity, selling over 150,000 copies following a 75% price reduction, bringing its lifetime total on Steam to over nine million units.
Hades II, which has been in early access since May 2024, has already surpassed two million copies sold and generated over $50 million in revenue. The title has benefited from a community-driven development model, incorporating player feedback through multiple content updates. As the game approaches its 1.0 release, expectations for increased daily active users remain high, supported by returning players and new interest from the broader gaming community.
These findings underscore the ongoing importance of community engagement and iterative development in navigating market discoverability challenges. By leveraging data-driven insights and transparent benchmarking, developers and industry stakeholders can better assess performance across various platforms, including PC and console, to identify emerging trends and growth opportunities.
