Action RPGs also show consistent growth potential in both markets.
This analysis provides a strategic framework for RPG publishers to optimize market entry, monetization, and user acquisition in Thailand and Taiwan. By leveraging market intelligence tools, publishers can identify high-growth subgenres and align their titles with proven revenue models to maximize return on investment. The findings are based on data collected between January and October 2025, focusing on regional download trends and the performance of specific high-impact titles.
The research highlights distinct regional dynamics within the RPG sector. While MMORPG, Idle RPG, and Squad RPG categories maintain the largest download shares in both Thailand and Taiwan, growth trajectories differ. Thailand shows particular momentum in Puzzle, Action, and Turn-based RPGs, whereas Taiwan’s growth is driven by Survival, Action, and Squad RPGs. To capitalize on these trends, the analysis suggests adopting established monetization strategies, such as season passes, subscriptions, and loot boxes or gacha systems, which are currently effective for Survival and Squad RPG titles.
Case studies of successful market entries, such as the Action RPG Crystal of Atlan, demonstrate the importance of targeted user acquisition. In Thailand, this title achieved over 80% of its total downloads within the first two weeks of release. The data indicates that a balanced approach to user acquisition is essential, with paid display advertising and organic discovery serving as the primary drivers of growth. Specifically, Facebook accounted for 50% of the title's ad impressions in Thailand, underscoring the critical role of digital advertising networks in supporting successful product launches. By synthesizing these subgenre trends, monetization benchmarks, and advertising channel performance, publishers can refine their competitive positioning in these high-potential Southeast Asian markets.
