This represents a 6.8% increase compared to the previous year.
Don’t Nod achieved record financial results in 2023, reporting operating revenues of €32 million, a 6.8% increase over the previous year. A significant driver of this growth was a 207% surge in game sales, totaling €2.9 million, bolstered by the release of Jusant and the continued performance of the company’s back catalog. Despite these gains, the company faced a challenging market environment characterized by high competition, which necessitated a €10.5 million write-off of fixed assets related to intellectual property valuations and contributed to the delay of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden.
To sustain growth and improve operational efficiency, the company is undergoing a strategic reorganization into three distinct, genre-based branches: Action RPG, Action Adventure, and Narrative Adventure. Each branch will operate under a hybrid model, functioning as both a developer and a publisher for both in-house and third-party projects. This structure is designed to consolidate the company’s expertise in the AA+ game segment while maintaining control over financial commitments and intellectual property monetization.
The company currently manages seven active projects, including five in-house titles and two third-party games, with development expenditures rising 16.8% to €26.8 million in 2023. The restructuring effort is intended to streamline operations without impacting the company’s 350-person workforce. By focusing on its core competencies, the organization aims to navigate the oversaturated gaming market more effectively in the coming years.
