Mobile accounted for 52.3% of the company’s total revenue.
Activision Blizzard’s financial performance in the third quarter of 2022 was defined by a significant shift toward mobile gaming, which accounted for 52.3% of the company’s total revenue. During this period, mobile platforms generated $932 million, representing a 14% increase compared to the same quarter in 2021. This growth stands in contrast to the company’s PC and console segments, which experienced year-over-year revenue declines of 37% and 36%, respectively.
The primary drivers of this mobile expansion were the King portfolio and the successful launch of Diablo Immortal. Candy Crush Saga remained the company’s highest-grossing mobile title, contributing $316.8 million in quarterly revenue. Diablo Immortal, a collaboration between Blizzard and NetEase, generated $212.2 million across iOS and Android platforms. Other notable contributors included Call of Duty: Mobile, which brought in $89.4 million, Candy Crush Soda Saga with $72.9 million, and Hearthstone with $18.6 million.
These findings, derived from data provided by Sensor Tower and AppMagic, highlight the critical role of casual puzzle games and established franchises in sustaining the company's revenue streams. King, in particular, served as a foundational pillar for this growth, supported by a diverse array of titles such as Farm Heroes Saga and various entries in the Bubble Witch and Candy Crush series. The data underscores a broader industry trend where mobile-first strategies are increasingly offsetting volatility in traditional gaming segments.
