This new competitive initiative is designed for the collegiate esports landscape. The tour's final championship event is scheduled for CECC Texas in 2025.
Collegiate Sports Management Group (CSMG) has announced a partnership with Capcom to launch the College Street Fighter Tour, a new competitive initiative for the collegiate esports landscape. The tour is designed to integrate into the 2024-25 academic year, with the final championship event scheduled to take place at the Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup (CECC) Texas in 2025.
The inclusion of Street Fighter 6 expands the existing CECC competitive roster, which currently features Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, and Valorant. Participation is open to both two-year and four-year institutions, with qualifying pathways available through individual conferences or select tournament events. To oversee the development of this new ecosystem, industry veteran Wim Stocks has been appointed as the commissioner of the tour.
This initiative aims to provide a structured national framework for collegiate fighting game competitors, fostering talent development within the collegiate esports sector. While specific operational details regarding the tour's schedule and structure are forthcoming, the announcement underscores a continued effort by organizers to diversify collegiate gaming offerings and strengthen the connection between professional game publishers and university-level competition.
