Cavs Legion Gaming Club Partners With SteelSeries, KontrolFreek

Cavs Legion Gaming Club, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, has entered into a strategic partnership with gaming peripherals manufacturer SteelSeries and its subsidiary brand, KontrolFreek. Announced in May 2023, the agreement focuses on enhancing the technical infrastructure of the organization’s dedicated training facility, the Cavs Legion Lair, located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.

Under the terms of the deal, SteelSeries and KontrolFreek will supply the facility with professional-grade gaming peripherals, specifically providing headsets and performance-focused gaming gear for the team’s use. While the financial details of the arrangement remain undisclosed, the partnership aligns the organization with a broader portfolio of esports entities currently supported by SteelSeries, including FaZe Clan, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports Team, and various international organizations.

This collaboration highlights the ongoing integration of specialized hardware brands into the professional esports ecosystem, particularly within the NBA 2K League. By securing this equipment partnership, Cavs Legion Gaming Club aims to standardize its training environment with high-performance tools, reflecting a common industry trend where teams leverage corporate sponsorships to upgrade facility capabilities and player resources. KontrolFreek, which has operated as a subsidiary of SteelSeries since its acquisition by GN Store Nord in 2021, continues to expand its footprint in competitive gaming through such team-level integrations.
