Micro firms make up 55% of respondents and small firms 34%. The figures are based on 76 voluntary responses covering 2024 activity.
Argentina's video game industry, as profiled in the 2025 Observatorio report, is a sector built largely on very small enterprises. Drawing on 76 voluntary respondents reporting on 2024 activity, the industry is dominated by micro firms (55%) and small firms (34%), concentrated in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (38%) and Santa Fe (20%). Many micro companies operate unregistered or as monotributistas, and firms typically average around five years of existence, with a formalization lag of roughly two years. Most micro studios focus exclusively on their own games, while small and medium companies also provide services to other studios and private-sector clients.
Market orientation varies by company size. Small and medium firms direct their business-to-consumer sales primarily toward the United States and Canada, whereas micro firms divide their sales between the domestic market and North America. Development is dominated by PC, Mac, and Linux platforms alongside mobile, with Unity and C# as the prevailing toolchain, and the principal audience sits in the 19 to 35 age bracket. Action, strategy, adventure, and puzzle are the most common genres. In 2024, studios undertook 41 small and 23 large projects and published 17 small and 10 large titles, with most companies requiring about two years to release a first game.
The report's final section examines the operational infrastructure behind these studios. Google Analytics and Firebase lead analytics adoption, while Photoshop, Blender, and Scrum-based methodologies are the most widely used tools in their respective categories. The industry is estimated at U$S 87.3 million and employs approximately 1,432 workers, with programmers forming the most common role. Access to financing is identified as the principal constraint on development, yet most businesses reported higher revenue in 2024 and anticipate continued growth in 2025.
