The Games Transfer program, managed by Gamecity Hamburg, serves to increase the visibility of local game projects and facilitate the development of new business connections. By providing financial assistance for participation in both online and in-person industry events, the initiative aims to lower the barriers for Hamburg-based developers and studios seeking to showcase their work and engage with the broader gaming market.
Eligibility for the program is restricted to companies, individuals, or studios based in Hamburg with no more than 20 permanent employees. Applicants must demonstrate that their projects have clear commercial potential and provide a justified need for funding. Eligible expenses include costs associated with event attendance, such as travel, tickets, workshop participation, and the production of event-specific marketing materials.
The program offers a maximum of 1,500 euros in non-repayable, de minimis funding per applicant per calendar year. This grant covers up to 80 percent of documented total costs, requiring the applicant to contribute the remaining 20 percent. As an ongoing initiative, applications can be submitted up to four months prior to the start of a scheduled event, with funds disbursed following the completion of the event and the submission of verified expenses. This structure ensures that small-scale developers in the Hamburg region have consistent access to the resources necessary for professional networking and market exposure.
