Gamecity Hamburg
The Games Lift Incubator 2026, an initiative managed by Gamecity Hamburg on behalf of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, has selected five local game development startups to receive comprehensive professional support. The program aims to foster the creation of market-oriented games and the development of sustainable business structures within the Hamburg gaming sector. Each of the five selected studios will receive 15,000 euros in funding, supplemented by a year-long program of expert coaching, workshops, and networking opportunities.
The 2026 cohort features a diverse range of projects, including Neon Nest, a cyberpunk management adventure; Snap Shut Worlds, a 3D miniature puzzle game; Sunderhold, a dark fantasy base-defense title; Time Travel Train, a PS1-style roguelite; and Witch Artisan, a 2D life simulation. These projects were selected by an expert committee comprising industry executives, media specialists, and localization experts, who evaluated submissions based on their potential for success and innovation.
Beyond the incubator, Gamecity Hamburg continues to support the regional industry through additional financial instruments, such as prototype funding. The organization is set to open a new application round for prototype grants on September 4, 2026, offering up to 80,000 euros per project with a total available budget of 180,000 euros. These efforts reflect a broader commitment to maintaining Hamburg’s position as a hub for game development by providing both capital and professional guidance to emerging talent.
