Since its launch in July 2015, Angry Birds 2 has generated over $500 million from in-app purchases. This represents nearly half of Rovio’s total mobile portfolio earnings.
Angry Birds 2 has reached a significant financial milestone, surpassing $500 million in lifetime revenue from in-app purchases since its launch in July 2015. This performance cements its status as the cornerstone of the Rovio portfolio, contributing nearly half of the company’s total $1.1 billion in lifetime revenue across its various mobile titles. Data for this analysis is sourced from AppMagic, which tracks mobile application performance metrics.
The game’s financial success is heavily concentrated in the United States, which accounts for 63% of total lifetime revenue. Other notable markets include Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, and South Korea. In terms of platform distribution, the Apple App Store generates 56% of the game's revenue, while Google Play leads in user acquisition, accounting for 63% of the 360.5 million total lifetime downloads.
Beyond the flagship title, Rovio’s portfolio remains anchored by other entries in the franchise. Angry Birds Dream Blast ranks as the second-highest earner with $176.5 million, followed by Angry Birds Friends at $110 million, Angry Birds POP! at $71 million, and Angry Birds Blast at $58 million. This concentration of revenue highlights the company's reliance on the brand's longevity, a strategy further underscored by the recent decision to remove the original Angry Birds title from mobile storefronts to protect the broader portfolio's performance.
