So the crash mini game is actually I think still at an early stage compared with going in 2023.
What am I watching?
What are you looking at?
Is this a UA creative or what is it?
It's something probably accurate. It's it's a one of the hottest memes show.
Yeah, that's the Italian brain ro one. And a lot of people they made this video into the mini game and we're rolling the dice with those coins. We're the two and a half gamers the midnight crew talking UA advers and game design too. Mate feeling shak bringing the insight. We're rocking those vibes till the early daylight master eyes on the prize tracking data through the cyerspace skies. Feeling stacks colors like a wizard in disguise. Challenge craft realms to the highest. Two and a half gamers talking smack. Slow hockey stick got your back. Ads are
beautiful. They like the way. Click it fast. Don't delay. Uh-huh. Uh-huh.
Hello everybody. Hello. Hello. Hello. This is Two and a Half Gamers. Another special episode. We only have special episodes. so far. So um we continue with this. My name is Mata Lancher.
I'm Felix Brober.
We are your hosts and we have a special guest. Hello. Can you introduce yourself?
This is Chen Yang from Kokus. I had been a developer for more than 10 years and also a publisher for about five years now. I'm doing ecosystem operation in Kokos.
Nice. Well, and today we're going to talk about mini games in China because this topic is full of insights and this is exactly what we're going to dive into today. So, buckle up. It's going to be very interesting. I can't wait.
Okay, I want to talk about the AI trains
in mini game. I say it's quite common. According to our survey, probably more than 80%age of the developer are using AI already, especially for the AI game. uh for this year I think for this year or for the f future I'll talk about first I'll talk about the development oh hello hello there I didn't see you thank you very much for coming to this episode uh it's brought to you by our sponsors PVX partners the simplest and most effective credit line for marketing if you're scaling your business uh and need funding here's the deal with PVX partners you can grow your game easily and your business there's no equity dilution you can repay as you get paid And it's flexible files and fully tailored to your growth. The first thing we see the 3D there are 3D uh there's a lot top 3D like AI generate surveys like a roing machete and triple they currently recently they just update their model. We see the the faces of the mesh is getting smaller and the details are getting better. So I like to say the 3D for the C for the casual or the hyper casual will be getting better and better probably more mini game will using the AI generate 3D at the end of this year or probably for the quarter one or quarter two last year. Another one we already see a lot of people they using the AI video for the casual game or for something for the short story like drama game but for the AI generary animation especially for the span or live 2D still
not being sold yet and there's no clues yet probably more people will using the 3D for mini game first another thing is for the operation we already see the eye blowing is really successful with the AI in the traffic buy. They have their new AI traffic system. Another one a lot company in China they already use the AI for their BI system. Sens tower also providing the more AI tool for the BI as well. Uh I'll say in the future people they need more something like the balancing with AI like the AI driving dynamic balancing for the levels for the game play like each of the users might get different like level game play depending on their user experience or the game play experience. So this is the the AI for the future. I see the AI driving
financing thing in the future on a game like the block paso. I heard they are trying the AI binancing. So there's some some something policy. So for the steam they already b the AR generate without copyright which means you can use AI but you need your own copyright which means you can't use other like like the material race without copyright as a lora for your own ass. And uh another thing is we try it really strictly regulate the AI video games and some game are declined for not uh using the real human. I'll introducing later. The Tik Tok mini game are also binding some low quality AI content product which means you can use the AI but you need to use AI to generate or produce some really high quality games. So this is the game they using the stable diffusion I mean journey to rapidly generate the 2D aside all the character are made with
AI then they using the SP animation to manually animate all the rigging. So another thing is following the video trains the Gemini the clock they can generate the game directly. So this game you can see so this is a matching all the this is matching all the all the game content are generated with the Gemini or the video scene. So with the AI2 the developer could probably generate three to five complete stories within one day by one or two person people. But uh I still remember in the early stage of the 2023 for made such such level of the story people of the studio probably take more than three days but for this year probably three to five stories within one day and they don't really yet and all the arts can be
generated by the SD or the main journey. So for the IIA users aside quality requirements are still need to be moderate but time list is really critical. For example sometimes we find a really good memes from Tik Tok which is doing in China and you can see the next day there are game with this kind of memes in their level already. So this is what we call the Chinese speed. So at the AI2 have significant can bursting the launching speed for the memes. Uh and another thing I want to this game is quite interest. So this this game is launched in 2023. It's I the three I think the boss so I'm I'm quite familiar with the with this studio. So the boss I think fair most of the uh artist they replace them with 30 90 graphic cards. So they using the AIGC.
So they're using the AIGC to generate probably like 50 buildings uh in uh 50,000 square meter M like within one M like within one m within one week. And they also have their c customer like Laura model for the Chinese characters and the Chinese stell like buildings. So the result is quite good. So the MP racing will released in just two weeks. So the developer efficiency is improved by 80%age and this game is still in the top 20 in the IP ranking currently.
So I can see that.
Yeah. So really play a important role in the high quality as generation. So like before I think before 2023 GPT 3.5 and SD was released probably they have the four to six people team for the MP
usually will be two artist and one two to three programmer I think by currently still five people probably one artist
for the whole game. Yeah. One artist, one programmer,
one mid journey,
one GBT, and one agent for the game plan. Yeah. So, which means the three people are replaced by three agents.
Oh, okay. By the way, for people that don't understand customized Laura models means,
so it's it's quite technical thing for for example, if you're downloading the Lora from the Siri, they only have the the European or something like the the comet Astel. It's not suitable for the Chinese mini game market. So they train their own Laura model from their pressure games. So they're training their own aside to avoid the copyrights and also make the game aside suitable for the mini game market.
Yeah. Yeah. Just
so they're training the Lara model by by themselves.
Yeah. Wanted to explain. Yeah.
Laura means low rank adaptation model and it's basically you have a AI generation model and what you do you create a custom data set that you train on extra and you use this extra training to add that's basically your Laura and you put this into your model. So it generates stuff based on that data set. So eventually every every company will have their own like art like I don't know Blizzard art only for Blizzard CD project red for CD project and so on so forth.
Yep.
Yeah. And it's actually quite cruel because some boss told me why they need to hire more programmers in future. The average salary or the month we pay for them they can buy the totally new 50 90 graphic case every month. It's very cruel but it's true. It's happened in China because for the game studio they I think most of game studio they have their own lura
so they can use the cloud service.
Yeah. Everybody local.
Yeah. You can fear a programmer and buy a new 5090 graphic card every every month.
It's a it's a AI shell drama game
and all generated I would guess. So actually I think they take they take the they take some like really real photo from actress like by like offline that using the photo to generate the video. Why they do this to help you game approve in WeChat and some platform also actually we take we take the video from the real person but we air generate like some clicks. So we think the multi-le product really achieve successful most of the game are sorry the IA which means they don't need the ISBN they can use the AI and the real person for really cheap uh I think the average cost for this kind of the game is less than less
than4,000 US for one game.
That's crazy. probably probably like uh $500 US for the actor every day. You only need one to two days to take like few clip and generate new clip from the old clips by using the wheel the AI or other a using the runway or other like AI video models. So the AI video workflow are expect to reach the uh to reach a very good level I think in the next three to five months. The only problem is still about our we say it's still you still need to draw from different result currently. No matter what model you're using using the cleaning you're using the wheel from Google the result is not so certain currently but I believe it will be a big update in the next three to five months which mean you can pay less money and getting much better result in the
future.
It's very interesting setup. Okay. So this this should be playing audio because uh we don't hear unfortunately. So this is a game from the war wolf. It's game from the start. Can you see like which player is actually AI actually like both two and three they are AI. So they're using the ASR which is audio recognition by the AR the TTI type to speech the RM. So enable the natural voice interaction with the uh with real people in a multi-player games. So probably when you play some like multiplayer games, you don't know which of your teammates is real person in the future.
Okay. So for basically
yeah really assates the team formation and the real time m like the match matchmaking because for example if you play the game in a late night probably will get four AI teammates in less than 10 seconds of course. So and the most
important thing the AI agents it's bing the player emotional engagement. Sometimes you make mistake in the game the AI will say hey don't worry you did really good job
give something like emotional emotional damage emotional engagement. Yeah. Yeah. And this is the analysis with AI. So I also made a website we call I call it no cat. It's a website made by by me. I using two model. So the first one is GPD5 meaning it's a multi model which can recognize not only the text but also all the image all the review from the store. At first I check all the new games from the Google Play and also the wai mini game that matching the history. Then I think that I creating two different like agings. So the first aging is to give the re for the for for for for different game. Another another agent is to decide if the game is good
for the mini game. Then it can generate a product design report. So this is just a similar or the simple versioning of my AI agent flow opensource and make it free for everyone. I also have a very complicated one for myself and team. You can use this AI agent to create a very detailed report for each game.
All done by AI.
Yeah, by AI. So I say like AI in the future. So this quite interest. So this AI in generate sh video.
Okay. This looks like a lazy survival. After you play few seconds of the AI generation drama game, it turn to a hardcore RPG game. A hardcore and boring, but it's still very success. They using the air generation video drama to attract the user to download this video. You can select a character, a female character and play with them and watch their like
personal videos. If you want to unlock more personal videos, there's a lot like videos like shower video blah blah blah. You need to keep playing the SRG, keep playing RBG, keep up. Another case we can see the top word they already made a lot the playable game in the witch hat as well and they made for the Google play and so I say the AI is already widely used for the 2D arts and it's really speeding the assign creation and the interation and for the future or for the quarter 4 or for the next year I see the 3D air like the roing the triple and also the machine are making the breakthrough too. So the AI driving low poly 3 really content will be coming more and more common by mini games in 2026. Uh another thing people are talking
about we're using the AI to make game. I think the biggest needs or the demands currently is to use AI to make the playable. So the AI with playable will become the major growth track in the future. It can can generate not only the playable sites but also good for some like pro prototype game plays also in the future. I think the for like most of the traffic by or the UA system they may they may come up with their own like AI playable system in the future. I already say like mobileista have something like in future uh they can use the AI to generate the AI playable traffic guy or the UA material rate with with few with less than 30 minutes
less than 30 minutes to generate the playable.
Yeah. But uh the I think most of the game they using the templates but I say probably you know the playable is really the big player in the UA right now. I
think most uh probably almost like 30 or 28 percentage of the revenue come uh the UAE are preferred by the playable rather than the rewarding video in this in September or probably for the quarter four this year. Yeah, I think that's it.
Nice. Yeah, perfect.
I'll go back to introducing a few. So this is a a website I using GPT and the code to generate. I build this Wi-Fi using the cursor in about two hours including two parts. The first thing to I can collect all the games from Steam. For example, I type two. I get all the new game report from Steam. So this is the newest game from Steam every day. It reported to me every day. Oh, what game you should clone? What what's good game you should copy? or game you should copy after you find game you can also search the game I also collect some data from the witch as well so there are some top
top new wai mini game as well so this is really useful for me yeah I can get what new games is really popular in wai currently which I which one I should follow in future
follow yeah follow is a better word than copy yeah so absolutely you can use the AI to guide a very detailed report for different game. I say this game.
Mhm.
Kind of understand looks amazing.
Yeah. It's look like fully generated by AI. The game is called the silver hall wife.
What's the filter by the way you take these games from like last released or how's the category set up there in the AI?
Uh I using so this is the game from the Tencent from the website. It's called sg.q.com. Mhm.
There's some like a uh I got this is it's top new it's top new like mini game I got this website. So I using the
cursor to write something and write a simple two. Yeah. To scroll all the games and search them from internet and generate a simple reports for each game.
Okay. There's our game 15. Yeah. The the girls.
Yeah. So these are some top new game. So for the for the allies and for the Google play I use the same same way
to gather all the information from the internet and generate some like reports for each game. We also say the game from the same game and some company. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
There you go.
Yeah.
That's quite interesting.
So yeah. So you can com combine this like this two probably with the sensor tower API or some too. The air will tell you which game is popular and which game is really make money and which game you should follow. [Laughter]
Follow.
Oh yeah.
Follow.
Okay. I'll stop my stream. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. That was super enlightening. Thanks for that. Especially the numbers
and the timelines that you mentioned like how much it takes to get an ISBN like how many developers are some of these games doing.
Yeah. Six people three of them are agents. Amazing.
And it's uh what I heard it's getting worse because most of the boss I also I got a lot of emails from UDU when we comes with AI AI to for the playable game so I can fear all the developers in the future. So we don't I don't want any programmer any in the future otherwise like most of them they don't understand the the the game plans or the game design. So they they need they really need some tools for their playable playable games. For most of the big companies, they may like uh generate like one or two game like every quarter, but most of the huge of the major company, they may generate like 20 to 50
playable game every day.
The average cost for the playable game is roughly about 1,000 to2,000 US dollar. They got the the the suppliers from China or in Turkey. I think most of the suppliers in Turkey, WA
Yeah.
and China the price is quite cheap. They're using the template to just risking with the AI sites. But most of the playable game, I think only probably less than 10 percentage of the playable game could be used for their final UA plans.
Even from still,
yeah, they made allow probably 30 to 50 like every day.
Okay. Okay. And only three to five can be used. Okay.
Yeah. And some people some major company like 37 they all they and al also the 4399 game in China they also have their own team especially for the playable game
because they can't trust the supplers. The supplers most of the players they using the templates they just risking the templates with the sites from your game play. But uh I think in the future I think the if the AI will fair someone in the future the first be affected to be the playable game developers.
So it's now UI playables. Yeah, the yeah the boss say we should we should generate the AI we should generate playable by using the AI to generate the information from game and generate a totally new playable game especially for our game based on our use UA traffic by history to make the best playable game for our yeah I think probably I'll say if there are two like this probably we will come out probably quarter two last year next year like next year.
Interesting.
Yeah.
Yeah. Thanks for sharing a lot like been very very insightful.
Uh thank you.
If if you can if you can just say like where people can reach you or like if if they're looking for you like how they how can they contact you or like what would be the best way to get in touch with you?
Okay. Uh people can find my information from the website the newai. So this is my way account. There's also my email in this website as well. Mhm.
You can find my you can also give my I'll also write my emails. So this is my personal emails.
Yeah, we add the links to the show notes.
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Okay. Feel free. I will write stories most about how to fair the developers with your agent.
Okay. Um any any other words, mate?
All good. All good. All good. Thank you very much for listening guys and also thanks for for coming on the podcast. Please uh if you like the episode, comment in the comment section, join the Slack channel and hopefully see you next
time. Thank you very much. Bye-bye.

Distilling the key insights…
Artificial intelligence has become a foundational element of the Chinese mini-game ecosystem, with approximately 80% of developers currently integrating AI tools into their art, coding, operations, and user acquisition (UA) pipelines. This shift has fundamentally altered production economics and timelines, enabling small teams to produce minimum viable products (MVPs) in just two weeks—a process that previously required 5–6 people and up to two months of development time. By utilizing AI agents to handle tasks traditionally performed by human staff, studios have achieved an 80% increase in development efficiency.
A primary driver of this transformation is the use of custom LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation) models. Studios train these proprietary models on specific art styles to ensure high-quality, consistent assets that comply with local copyright regulations while avoiding the generic aesthetic of off-the-shelf models. This technical capability allows studios to iterate rapidly, with some developers noting that the cost of replacing human artists with high-end GPU hardware is significantly more economical for high-volume production.
The impact on user acquisition is particularly pronounced, as AI-generated playables now account for 25–30% of UA revenue. Studios produce 30–50 playables daily using AI templates, with turnaround times under 30 minutes, though only about 10% of these assets meet the quality standards required for final deployment. Furthermore, AI agents are increasingly used for market intelligence, such as scanning platforms like WeChat and Douyin to identify trending memes or successful titles, which are then rapidly converted into game levels to capitalize on fleeting consumer interests.
Looking forward, the industry is moving toward AI-driven dynamic balancing, where game difficulty and gameplay experiences are adjusted in real-time based on individual user behavior. While current regulations in China and on platforms like Steam remain strict regarding copyright and the use of AI-generated content, the trend toward hybrid human-AI workflows—combining real-world footage with AI-generated scenes—continues to lower production costs to under $40,000 per game. This rapid, data-informed development cycle defines the current competitive landscape in the Chinese mobile market.
