Designing an Integrated-Reality Megagame for Lifelong Learning Competency Development
The paper presents the design and implementation status of an Integrated-Reality Megagame inspired by Formula 1, intended to support lifelong competency development.
- The paper presents a design architecture, not an evaluation: its Integrated-Reality Megagame, inspired by Formula 1, has been run in eight formative demonstrations with groups of 10 to 20 people (about 100 participations), but no recordings or performance data have been analysed.
- The paper makes no claims about engagement, competency development, or learning outcomes, so its contribution is positioned as an explicit architecture and a basis for future empirical study.
- The design rests on four connected layers (learning design, physical interface, virtual interface, and social interaction), combining a Carrera Digital track, SmartRace telemetry, role-specific digital interfaces, and team role-play.

Racing to Learn: A Formula 1-Inspired Gamification Framework that Sustains Motivation Through Repeated Competitive Cycles
This study evaluates a Formula 1-inspired gamification framework in a third-semester undergraduate Internet of Things course at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico.
- A quasi-experimental study of 56 undergraduates at Tecnológico de Monterrey found gamified students scored higher on the final exam (mean 89.56 vs. 84.97, Cohen's d = 0.46), but the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.087), so the advantage is suggestive rather than conclusive.
- The Formula 1-inspired framework assigned students to five racing teams who earned progress in meters through optional activities across three races over ten weeks, with periodic resets to sustain competition across repeated cycles.
- Engagement with optional activities correlated strongly with exam performance (r = 0.81), but the authors caution this does not establish causation, since motivated students may both engage more and perform better regardless of the framework.

The Future of Sports Fandom: How Brands Can Engage Sports Fans in 2022 and Beyond
The sports industry currently faces a critical inflection point as traditional viewership metrics decline and younger demographics, particularly Gen Z, demonstrate lower levels of avid sports fandom compared to previous generations.
- Sports organizations must shift from passive, top-down broadcasting to active, digital-first engagement to combat declining viewership among younger demographics.
- Formula 1’s focus on emotional, plot-driven storytelling via docuseries successfully attracted 200 million new fans, with nearly 50% of that audience under the age of 34.
- Digital collectibles have proven to be a significant revenue driver, evidenced by NBA Top Shot generating nearly $1 billion in transaction volume.
