The app allows users to stream their PC gaming libraries to mobile devices.
Valve’s Steam Link application has reached a significant milestone, surpassing two million global installs across mobile platforms. This growth follows the long-awaited release of the iOS version, which secured over 330,000 downloads within its first week of availability. The application, designed to allow users to stream their PC gaming libraries to mobile devices, maintains a consistent momentum with an average of 52,000 daily installs across both iOS and Android platforms.
Geographic distribution of the user base reveals distinct trends between the two operating systems. The iOS version has seen strong adoption in Asian markets, with China and Japan accounting for 57 percent and 14 percent of downloads, respectively, while the United States represents only 6 percent of iOS installs. Conversely, the Android version, which accounts for approximately 1.9 million of the total downloads, shows a stronger domestic presence, with 22 percent of its user base located in the United States. Combined, total U.S. installs for both platforms are estimated at 430,000.
These findings are based on Store Intelligence data, which provides global estimates for mobile application performance. The analysis covers the period leading up to May 2019, following the initial launch of the Android beta on Google Play and the subsequent approval of the iOS version on the App Store. The data highlights the successful expansion of Valve’s ecosystem into the mobile gaming sector, demonstrating a clear demand for remote streaming capabilities despite initial regulatory hurdles on the Apple platform.
