LeagueSpot provided technical and operational services, including a custom white-label platform, gender verification systems, and competition management. They also remain unpaid.
The HER Galaxy Apex Legends Open, a North American tournament designed to highlight female talent in competitive gaming, has faced significant financial controversy due to delayed prize pool distributions. More than seven months after the event concluded, winning teams and the tournament platform provider, LeagueSpot, remain unpaid. The Dubai-based esports organization Galaxy Racer (GXR), which operated the tournament, missed its contractually obligated 180-day payout deadline in late December 2023.
Beyond the unpaid prize money, GXR reportedly owes LeagueSpot approximately $40,000 for technical and operational services, including the development of a custom white-label platform, gender verification systems, and competition management. While GXR previously cited a merger with Riva Technology and Entertainment as a primary cause for operational delays, the organization has maintained that it intends to fulfill all financial commitments.
As of February 2024, GXR leadership stated that the company is in the process of winding down its North American operations and expects to finalize all outstanding dues by the end of the month. Although communication between GXR and the affected stakeholders has been described as minimal since December, the organization asserts that it is actively processing payments. This situation highlights the broader instability within GXR’s North American division, which previously saw the full payment of laid-off staff in late 2023 despite the ongoing delays regarding tournament-related obligations.
