Ubisoft
Ubisoft’s third-quarter sales for fiscal year 2012-13 reached €802 million, exceeding the company’s projected range of €740 million to €800 million. This represents a 23% increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. Driven by this performance, the company revised its full-year sales guidance upward to a range of €1,240 million to €1,260 million, with current operating income expected to reach between €90 million and €100 million.
The growth was primarily fueled by the core gamer segment, anchored by the commercial success of Assassin’s Creed 3, which sold over 12 million units, and Far Cry 3, which surpassed 4.5 million units. While the casual gaming segment experienced an anticipated decline, the online and digital distribution sectors saw significant expansion, with online sales jumping 143% to €55.2 million. Digital distribution and downloadable content (DLC) revenues were identified as increasingly material contributors to the company’s overall financial health.
Geographically, the company achieved a market share exceeding 11% in both the United States and Europe during the 2012 calendar year. The results reflect a strategic shift toward core gaming franchises and internal online expertise, supported by a new creative studio structure. Looking ahead, the company intends to capitalize on these trends by expanding its digital and free-to-play offerings, alongside continued investment in major core titles. These results underscore a successful transition period for the publisher, characterized by strong back-catalog performance and a robust pipeline of digital and mobile releases.
