Ubisoft
Ubisoft achieved record financial performance for the 2014-15 fiscal year, ending March 31, 2015, with total sales reaching €1,463.8 million. This represents a 45.3% increase compared to the previous fiscal year. The company successfully transitioned from a non-IFRS operating loss of €65.6 million in 2013-14 to a record non-IFRS operating income of €170.7 million. This growth was driven by the strong performance of major franchises, including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry 4, and Watch Dogs, which collectively secured three of the seven best-selling titles of 2014.
The digital segment emerged as a primary growth engine, surging 96.8% to €382.7 million and accounting for 26.1% of total annual sales. This shift toward digital distribution, mobile, and additional content contributed to a record gross profit margin of 77.0%. Furthermore, the company improved its liquidity significantly, moving from a net debt position of €12.7 million in the prior year to a net cash position of €211.3 million. These results were supported by a market share increase of over three points, reaching 12.8% across North America, Europe, Australia, and Brazil.
Looking ahead, the company confirmed a non-IFRS operating income target of at least €200 million for the 2015-16 fiscal year. Strategy remains focused on the in-house creation of major franchises and the expansion of live services to maintain long-term engagement. While the company anticipates stable sales for the coming year, it expects continued profitability improvements through favorable currency effects, a robust back-catalog, and the release of new titles such as Tom Clancy’s The Division and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. To support shareholder value, the Board of Directors has approved a share buyback program of up to €100 million over 24 months.
