Ubisoft
Ubisoft’s first-quarter fiscal results for 2010-11 demonstrate significant financial growth, with total sales reaching €161 million. This figure represents a 94% increase compared to the €83 million recorded during the same period in the previous fiscal year. The performance exceeded initial guidance of €145 million, driven primarily by the successful launch of Splinter Cell Conviction, which moved 1.9 million units, alongside sustained demand for back-catalog titles such as Just Dance, Assassin’s Creed 2, and Avatar. Favorable exchange rate impacts further bolstered these results.
The company’s geographic and market position strengthened during the first half of the 2010 calendar year. Ubisoft maintained its status as the fourth-largest independent publisher in the United States with a 6.0% market share, while improving its standing in Europe, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany to secure the number two position in each of those markets. North America emerged as the primary revenue driver, accounting for 52% of sales, while the Xbox 360 platform became the company’s dominant revenue source, representing 45% of total sales for the quarter.
Looking ahead, the company maintains its full-year forecast, anticipating a return to profitable growth and positive cash flow from operating activities. Second-quarter projections are set at approximately €83 million, consistent with the prior year’s performance. Upcoming releases for the second quarter include H.A.W.X. 2, R.U.S.E., and Racquet Sports, which are expected to support the company’s ongoing strategic objectives. These results reflect a period of robust expansion and market consolidation for the publisher across its global operations.
