CD Projekt Capital Group’s 2016 financial results demonstrate a period of significant growth and operational expansion, driven primarily by the sustained commercial success of The Witcher franchise. The company reported total sales revenues of 583.9 million PLN in 2016, representing a 73% increase over the previous year. This performance was underpinned by strong contributions from both the CD Projekt Red development studio and the GOG.com digital distribution platform, which saw revenue growth of 66% and 115%, respectively.
The financial data highlights a robust bottom line, with net profit reaching 250.5 million PLN and a net profitability margin of 42.9%. The company’s balance sheet strengthened considerably, with total assets rising to 874.9 million PLN, a 33% increase from 2015. This growth was supported by a substantial rise in cash and cash equivalents, which reached 597.2 million PLN by the end of 2016. Investment in future growth remained a priority, evidenced by an 85% increase in development expenditures, which totaled 62 million PLN for the year.
Beyond core financial metrics, the company focused on diversifying its ecosystem through the development of GOG Galaxy and the expansion of the Gwent card game. GOG Galaxy transitioned out of its beta phase, serving as both a digital storefront and a backend technology for cross-platform play. Simultaneously, Gwent established a global footprint, with the United States, Germany, Russia, Poland, and the United Kingdom identified as the top revenue-generating markets. The company further supported this title through competitive gaming initiatives, including partnerships with ESL to host tournaments. These results reflect a strategic shift toward long-term brand management and the integration of proprietary technology to support ongoing digital engagement.
