The Esports Advocate
Carleton Curtis is set to depart from his leadership positions at Tundra Esports and its parent company, Sandstorm Media Group, effective at the end of 2023. Following his exit, Tundra Esports co-founder Maxim Demin will assume the primary leadership role for the organization. Curtis, who announced the transition via social media, intends to disclose his future professional plans in early 2024.
Curtis joined the UK-based Tundra Esports as interim CEO and executive board member in February 2023. His tenure at the parent organization, Sandstorm Media Group—which also oversees the creative agency Epic Global and the production company Story Mode—began in December 2021 as a non-executive board member before he transitioned to executive chairman in early 2023.
The departure marks the end of a two-year period for Curtis within the Sandstorm Media Group ecosystem. His career in the esports and sports media sectors is extensive, including previous executive roles at Guild Esports, Activision Blizzard, and Red Bull, as well as a decade-long background in traditional sports media with organizations such as Fox Sports and Time Inc. This leadership change represents a significant shift for the UK-based esports entity as it moves into the next calendar year under the guidance of its co-founder.
