Summary

The Esports Awards announced the 2023 inductees for the Lifetime Achievement in Esports award, a recognition program dedicated to honoring professionals who have made significant, long-term contributions to the growth and development of the competitive gaming industry. The 2023 class features a diverse group of industry veterans, including Dignitas co-founder Michael “Odee” O’Dell, Team Liquid co-founder Victor “Nazgul” Goossens, and Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill. The list also highlights accomplished professional players and broadcast figures, such as Ian “Crimsix” Porter, Shane “rapha” Hendrixson, Manuel “Grubby” Schenkhuizen, Lee “Flash” Young Ho, and Chris Puckett.

In addition to the award announcements, the event confirmed the return of Lexus as a presenting partner for the 2023 ceremony. This partnership marks the fifth year of collaboration between the luxury automotive brand and the awards show. As part of its sponsorship, Lexus will serve as the presenting partner for the "Streamer of the Year" and "Esports Organization of the Year" categories. The brand plans to integrate its presence through on-site activations at the Esports Awards village in Las Vegas, including the display of a custom vehicle, alongside traditional broadcast branding and social media marketing initiatives.

These developments underscore the ongoing professionalization of the esports sector, balancing the recognition of foundational industry figures with the continued involvement of non-endemic corporate sponsors. By highlighting both individual legacies and high-profile commercial partnerships, the 2023 awards program serves as a barometer for the industry's current status and its ongoing efforts to maintain institutional prestige.
