SuperFest 2024, held in Helsinki, served as a consolidated esports showcase for Supercell’s three primary titles: Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars. The inaugural event aimed to unify the developer’s intellectual properties under a single competitive banner. Over the three-day period from November 1 to November 3, the event generated 7.9 million hours watched, peaking at nearly 1.1 million concurrent viewers. The tournament distributed a total prize pool of $2.9 million across the three featured games.
Performance data reveals a significant disparity in audience engagement between the titles. Brawl Stars dominated the event, accounting for 91.3% of total viewership, while Clash Royale and Clash of Clans contributed 5.5% and 3.2%, respectively. Despite efforts to alternate the tournament schedule to encourage cross-pollination among fanbases, the event highlighted a lopsided appeal that favored Brawl Stars.
The event’s reach was heavily bolstered by co-streaming, which accounted for 56% of total hours watched, exceeding the viewership of official channels. Spanish-language co-streamers were particularly influential, with top creators significantly outpacing others in engagement. Geographically, the viewership remained a predominantly Western phenomenon, with only 4.5% of total hours attributed to Asian languages. This suggests that while Supercell has successfully cultivated a massive, dedicated audience in Western markets, it faces challenges in penetrating the highly competitive and distinctively structured Asian mobile esports landscape. Future growth for the publisher may depend on leveraging influencer marketing and adapting strategies to better engage these untapped global regions.
