The six-day postponement of the earnings release was due to a restatement of fiscal 2025 accounts, necessitated by new auditors and changes in revenue recognition for two partnerships.
Key reason. The earnings delay was caused by an accounting restatement involving new auditors and specific partnership revenue recognition.
Ubisoft recently addressed market speculation regarding a six-day delay in its earnings release, clarifying that the postponement was strictly an accounting matter rather than a sign of corporate instability or a breakdown in investor relations. The company confirmed that the appointment of new auditors in July necessitated a restatement of fiscal 2025 accounts. This adjustment stemmed from a change in how revenue from two significant partnerships was recognized, which subsequently caused a technical breach of a leverage covenant ratio. Ubisoft is resolving this issue through the early repayment of debt instruments, utilizing proceeds from its ongoing partnership with Tencent.
Despite the accounting restatement, the company reported strong financial performance for the July-September quarter, generating €491 million in net bookings, which represents a 39% year-over-year increase and exceeds previous guidance. Key franchises continue to show momentum, with the Assassin’s Creed series reporting high engagement levels and the title Assassin’s Creed Mirage surpassing 10 million lifetime players. While Rainbow Six Siege experienced a temporary decline in activity due to a surge in cheating, the company is actively implementing mitigation strategies.
Looking forward, Ubisoft remains focused on cost-reduction measures, having reduced its total headcount to 17,097 as of September 2025. The company is also prioritizing the integration of generative AI across its production pipelines and player-facing applications, viewing the technology as a transformative shift for the industry. Furthermore, the company maintains a robust release schedule for early 2026, including mobile titles and a remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, with additional unannounced projects currently in development.
