Capcom’s financial results for the first quarter of the 2025 fiscal year, ending June 30, 2025, demonstrate significant growth driven primarily by the robust performance of its back catalog. The company reported net sales of 45.5 billion yen (approximately 307.5 million dollars), representing a 53.7% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. Operating income also saw substantial gains, rising 91% to 24.5 billion yen (166.2 million dollars).
The quarterly performance was bolstered by a 48.6% year-over-year increase in total game sales, reaching 14.16 million units. Digital distribution remains the dominant channel for the company, accounting for 95.2% of total sales. Devil May Cry 5 emerged as the top-selling title for the quarter, moving 1.78 million copies, a surge attributed to the release of a Netflix anime adaptation. Additionally, the Resident Evil franchise continued to perform well, with players revisiting older entries following the announcement of Resident Evil Requiem.
Conversely, the company noted that sales for Monster Hunter Wilds were weak, totaling 477,000 units during the quarter. Despite this specific underperformance, the overall fiscal start remains strong. Capcom has expressed confidence in its trajectory, maintaining a full-year revenue target of 190 billion yen (1.28 billion dollars), which would represent a 12% increase over the previous fiscal year. The company’s strategy continues to rely heavily on the long-term lifecycle and sustained demand for its established intellectual properties.
