The CD PROJEKT Group demonstrated strong financial performance during the first half of 2016, driven primarily by the sustained commercial success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the global launch of its second expansion, Blood and Wine. The company reported 319 million PLN in sales revenues and a net profit of 135 million PLN for the six-month period. These results underscore the continued market relevance of the Witcher franchise, which remains the primary engine for the group’s consolidated financial growth.
The GOG.com digital distribution platform achieved a record-breaking performance during this period, contributing 69 million PLN in sales revenues. This growth was supported by robust back-catalogue sales and the integration of GOG Galaxy features to facilitate the release of the Blood and Wine expansion. The collaborative development model between CD PROJEKT RED and GOG Poland has emerged as a key operational strategy, particularly regarding the development of the upcoming multiplayer card game, GWENT.
Looking beyond the first half of 2016, the company’s strategic focus centers on diversifying its product portfolio. Plans include the release of The Witcher 3: Game of the Year Edition to capture remaining market segments and the launch of a closed beta for GWENT in late October. By leveraging internal synergies between its development and distribution arms, the group aims to maintain its momentum while transitioning into the collectible card game genre. These initiatives reflect a broader effort to capitalize on the established brand equity of the Witcher series while expanding the group's digital footprint.
