CD PROJEKT achieved significant financial growth during the first quarter of 2016, driven primarily by the sustained commercial success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its initial expansion, Hearts of Stone. The company reported 87 million PLN in sales revenues and a net profit of 32.6 million PLN. These figures represent a notable milestone, as the quarterly net profit alone exceeded the total annual results recorded in the years prior to the launch of The Witcher 3. This performance marks the third consecutive period of record-breaking revenue for the Capital Group, signaling a fundamental shift in the company’s business scale and market position.
The CD PROJEKT RED development subsidiary accounted for 68.1 million PLN of the total revenue. Despite the capital-intensive nature of ongoing development projects, including the upcoming Blood and Wine expansion and the long-term production of Cyberpunk 2077, the group maintained strong liquidity with positive cash flows totaling 42.2 million PLN for the quarter. Management attributes this stability to the long-tail sales potential inherent in high-quality role-playing games and proactive efforts to maintain player engagement through consistent content updates.
The outlook for the remainder of the year remains focused on the expansion of the Witcher franchise, specifically the May 2016 release of the Blood and Wine expansion pack. By leveraging pre-order strategies and maintaining high production standards, the company aims to capitalize on the established player base. These financial results confirm that the transition to a high-budget, global development model has successfully stabilized the company’s revenue streams while providing the necessary capital to fund future ambitious projects.
