Riot Games has announced the launch of Legends Ascend South Asia, an amateur League of Legends tournament designed to foster grassroots competitive growth across the region. Facilitated in association with Aftermath Ventures, the initiative aims to provide a structured pathway for players in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives to engage with the professional ecosystem. The winning team of the competition will earn a qualification spot in the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) Wildcard Playoffs, serving as a gateway to higher-level professional play.
The tournament is structured as an online-only event spanning four months, featuring three open qualifiers, a round-robin league stage, and a double-elimination playoff bracket. The competition offers a total prize pool of INR 10,00,000, approximately $11,695 USD. Matches are scheduled to commence in May 2025, with the final playoff stage concluding in early August. All tournament broadcasts will be hosted on the FragNation YouTube channel.
By establishing this regional circuit, Riot Games seeks to strengthen the competitive infrastructure and community connectivity within South Asia. The program represents a strategic effort to identify and elevate emerging talent, providing participants with a tangible opportunity to advance toward the LCP promotion and relegation tournament. Registrations for the initial qualifier are set to open on April 27, 2025.
