Create free accounthello welcome to this daily I'm drum Jordan so the big news today is that gung-ho has released stitch financial figures for the year 2015 so gung-ho not particularly well known still in the West but is one of the biggest mobile games companies in the world the reason is known this for game called puzzle & Dragons so far some dragons has been released in the West has been no model moderately successful but m+ Andreas is a massive success in Japan so it was released really four years ago it's kind of a match game that has very deep elements meta game elements to it some kind of kind of card elements as well and it is still one of the top grossing games in Japan off for years so the the figures they announced were sales for the year 2013 2015 sorry well 1.3 billion dollars and operating profit was about six hundred million dollars so on
the face of it amazingly good figures pitching the ratio of profit to sales and it almost kind of half its sales were operating profit as that's pretty good and puzzle dragons as a single game was awesome series of games there's a few different versions of a term that accounted for eighty-nine percent of all the sales so it's still a billion-dollar game on an annual basis in terms of the sales it produces for gung-ho which is pretty incredible for a four-year-old game the difficulty for gung-ho is actually after four years perhaps unsurprisingly is the number people playing puzzle dragons is in slow decline and the revenue they're generating is in decline as well that's going to be expected that stopped the Sailor doing anything wrong actually I've done an incredibly good job to keep that game going so well for four years but sales actually for the year purveyors of 2015 13 2014 sales were down in eleven percent and profit was a
death down about 23% nasty for every quarter so for every three month period jun 2015 sales and sales and profit went down so I guess we can call a relative decline for gung-ho make as many companies would like to be in the same situation where they just have had a massive enormous kind of games would you sink billion billion dollar sales every year in there a few you know there if you come as you will be lucky enough to do that there's not very many of them it's very reps have a game that can after two or three four years still produce a billion dollars in revenue there are few obviously super still have a few of those games candy crush game wore a few burn those the exception also so gung-ho still do incredibly well considering i guess the issue is how long that look at a long tale of puzzle dragons will will continue or what suddenly drop off once has declined quicker than we're expecting the other problem for gum how is it hasn't really
had any even come come a secondary successes it has a few curve Kendall's release since then was one called someone's bored it's not about five million downloads but nothing like it's nothing like anything on the scale of gun home another problem for gum hose he's very focused on japanese market so while cousin dragons has done okay in north america like nine million downloads it's not really broken out over this japanese market and japanese market is one of the most profitable most lucrative in the world so if you're going to go big and that's the market to go picking really a home but i guess i'm a strategic level and don't know haven't really done very much for this success obviously it did have its share in did buy some shares in to sell but with michael porter by I'm softbank across Orleans and big jumping come home so that's kind of issue for gung-ho and then actually view create shares over the last year chairs have dropped thirty percent so going to invest at our particular p I suppose alone a long term and so that's the news today we're in a financial period now so there'd be a lot of other companies releasing their financial so don't forget to subscribe
don't forget to come back to our YouTube channel and the dis daily and find out what the news is smart I perceive
GungHo Online Entertainment maintains a dominant position in the global mobile gaming market, anchored by the sustained performance of its flagship title, Puzzle & Dragons. Despite being four years post-launch, the game remains a significant financial engine, generating $1.3 billion in annual sales during 2015. With an operating profit of $600 million, the company demonstrates an exceptionally high profit-to-sales ratio, with Puzzle & Dragons alone accounting for 89% of total corporate revenue.
However, the company faces a period of accelerating financial contraction. Year-over-year comparisons for 2015 reveal an 11% decline in sales and a 23% drop in operating profit. Quarterly data indicates a consistent downward trend, signaling that the title has entered a phase of long-term decline. While maintaining a billion-dollar annual revenue stream for a four-year-old game is a rare achievement in the mobile sector, the lack of a secondary hit remains a critical strategic vulnerability. Subsequent releases, such as Summoners War, have failed to achieve the scale or market penetration necessary to offset the cooling performance of the primary asset.
Geographic concentration further complicates the company's outlook. Operations remain heavily tethered to the Japanese market, which, while highly lucrative, limits global growth. Although Puzzle & Dragons achieved approximately nine million downloads in North America, it has not replicated its Japanese success on a global scale. This reliance on a single market and a single product has contributed to a 30% decline in share price over the preceding year, highlighting investor concerns regarding the company’s long-term diversification strategy and its ability to sustain momentum beyond the lifecycle of its initial breakthrough success.
