GungHo Online Entertainment
GungHo Online Entertainment’s consolidated financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 reflect a period of revenue contraction and declining profitability. The company reported net sales of 23,007 million yen, representing a quarter-on-quarter decrease of 3,805 million yen. This downturn is primarily attributed to a slowdown in the performance of its flagship title, Puzzle & Dragons, particularly during July when the absence of collaborative events impacted user engagement.
Profitability metrics also faced downward pressure during this period. Consolidated gross profit fell to 10,413 million yen, a decrease of 1,590 million yen from the previous quarter, though the gross profit margin saw a slight improvement to 45.3%. Operating profit experienced a more significant decline, dropping to 848 million yen—a 1,341 million yen reduction quarter-on-quarter—resulting in an operating profit margin of 3.7%. This contraction in profit is largely driven by increased outsourcing expenses related to new title development and ongoing investments in advertising and marketing, including offline events and industry trade show participation.
The company’s operational scope remains focused on the global mobile and digital gaming market. While the core business continues to rely on the long-term monetization of established titles like Puzzle & Dragons, Ninjala, and the Let It Die series, the company is actively expanding its portfolio through its subsidiary, Gravity Co., Ltd. Recent efforts include the release of new Ragnarok-related titles in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Korea. Looking ahead, the company is preparing for the global release of the new title Let It Die: Inferno, scheduled for December 2025, as part of its strategy to diversify its revenue streams and sustain user interest.
