The Kreativ-Transfer initiative serves as a financial support program designed to assist independent game studios and developers based in Germany in attending significant industry events. By providing funding for travel, accommodations, accreditation, and exhibition costs, the program aims to help smaller entities increase their visibility, reach, and professional networking opportunities with potential investors and publishers.
To qualify for support, applicants must be independent, maintain headquarters within Germany, and employ no more than 20 permanent staff members. The program specifically targets studios that lack the internal resources to independently fund their presence at major exhibitions or networking functions. Successful applicants can receive coverage for up to 70 percent of eligible expenses, capped at a maximum of 1,000 or 2,000 euros per participant.
The initiative is funded by the German State Minister for Culture and Media and receives support from the national games industry union. A jury evaluates all submissions, with participants typically announced five weeks after the application window closes. The scope of the program covers events occurring within a designated six-month period, with the 2019 application cycle targeting events scheduled between January 1 and June 30, 2020. This structured approach ensures that emerging developers receive the necessary backing to integrate into the broader games industry landscape.
