Pokémon GO experienced a significant surge in financial and user engagement metrics during September 2018, reinforcing its position as a dominant force in the mobile augmented reality gaming sector. The title generated $84.8 million in worldwide gross revenue throughout the month, securing the fourth position among all mobile applications. This performance represents the game’s highest monthly earnings since November 2017, reflecting a 15 percent increase over August 2018 and an 89 percent improvement compared to September 2017.
The game also achieved substantial growth in user acquisition, recording 8.86 million new downloads globally in September. This figure marks the highest monthly install volume for the title in 2018, doubling the number of downloads recorded in the same month the previous year. These gains contributed to a strong finish for the third quarter, resulting in the game’s highest quarterly earnings since its launch period in 2016.
Data for these findings are derived from Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform, which tracks global mobile application performance. As of the end of September 2018, the cumulative impact of these trends brought the game’s lifetime worldwide gross revenue to an estimated $2.01 billion, supported by a total of 522 million all-time downloads. The sustained growth underscores the title's continued relevance and ability to drive both monetization and player interest years after its initial release.
