Fortnite continues to demonstrate significant commercial success within the mobile gaming sector, specifically through its performance on Apple’s iOS platform. Despite being absent from the Google Play Store, the battle royale title has surpassed $350 million in cumulative worldwide gross revenue from iPhone and iPad users. This financial milestone underscores the game's ability to maintain high player engagement and monetization levels exclusively through the App Store.
During October 2018, the game generated approximately $55.4 million in revenue, marking a 6.3 percent increase over the previous month. This performance secured the title a position among the top ten highest-grossing apps globally for the month, outperforming many competitors that maintain a presence on both major mobile operating systems. The revenue growth is attributed in part to the introduction of seasonal, Halloween-themed cosmetic items and ongoing content updates that incentivize player spending.
The user base also expanded significantly during this period, with 3.9 million new mobile installations recorded in October. This brings the total lifetime downloads for the title on iOS to 74.2 million. The United States remains the primary market for the game, representing 38 percent of October’s new downloads and 65 percent of all-time installs. These findings are derived from proprietary Store Intelligence data, which tracks enterprise-level mobile application performance metrics to provide insights into market trends and consumer spending habits within the digital gaming industry.
