Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) has entered into a partnership with FITGMR, an esports performance company, to integrate structured health and wellness education into the district’s scholastic gaming programs. Serving over 35,000 students in Minnesota’s largest city, the school system aims to leverage this collaboration to enhance its existing esports offerings through technology-driven performance tracking and educational events.
The partnership centers on the implementation of the FITGMR App and Team Dashboard, which provide students with tools to monitor and improve their performance across five key pillars of health: physical maintenance, mental conditioning, lifestyle, sleep, and nutrition. Beyond individual tracking, the initiative includes the development of curated events that combine competitive gaming with educational components. While the financial terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, the collaboration also seeks to secure external grant funding and sponsorships to further support and expand the district's esports infrastructure.
This move aligns Minneapolis Public Schools with a growing network of scholastic and collegiate institutions that utilize FITGMR’s performance-focused framework. By prioritizing student well-being alongside competitive play, the initiative reflects a broader industry trend toward professionalizing scholastic esports through holistic player development. The partnership highlights a strategic effort to formalize the educational value of gaming within the public school system, positioning the district to better support student athletes through data-backed health and wellness practices.
