The South Korean firm Legendaries introduced LCK Legendaries, a platform for digital trading cards featuring professional League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) players.
The South Korean digital collectibles firm Legendaries has launched a beta service for LCK Legendaries, a platform dedicated to digital trading cards featuring professional players from the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK). The service enables fans to purchase, collect, and trade digital assets through a dedicated website and Discord integration. This initiative aims to deepen fan engagement by providing access to virtual collectibles featuring prominent esports athletes such as Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon.
The platform utilizes a tiered pricing model, with starter packs beginning at $9 and various Standard, Elite, and Premium packs ranging up to $60. These digital assets are released in limited-issue batches across seven scheduled drops throughout the LCK regular season and playoffs. A notable aspect of the business model is the commitment to distribute 50% of all revenue generated from these digital collectibles directly to the participating esports teams, creating a revenue-sharing mechanism within the ecosystem.
This launch reflects a broader industry trend of integrating digital collectibles into esports, joining other market participants like Kolex and UpperDeck, which have previously developed similar digital and physical-digital hybrid card offerings for titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the Overwatch League, and the Call of Duty League. By focusing on the South Korean market and the high-profile LCK league, the service positions itself to capitalize on the significant regional interest in professional League of Legends.
