Illinois State University has entered into a partnership with PIVOT Agency to secure a naming rights sponsor for its Redbird Esports Complex. This initiative aims to monetize the university’s dedicated gaming facility located in Normal, Illinois, by leveraging the agency’s expertise in valuation and sales within the collegiate esports sector.
The Redbird Esports Complex, which opened following a $5.95 million renovation of a former bowling and billiards center, spans 11,000 square feet. The facility is equipped with 72 gaming PCs, various consoles, a broadcast and production booth, and dedicated spaces for team showcases and tabletop gaming. While currently serving the university’s varsity and club programs, the facility is positioned for broader community and regional engagement.
PIVOT Agency, a San Francisco-based sports marketing firm, is managing the search for a corporate partner. The agency recently bolstered its leadership in this space by hiring a director of gaming and esports to oversee such initiatives. Although the financial terms of the agreement between the university and the agency remain undisclosed, the move reflects a growing trend of collegiate institutions seeking to offset infrastructure costs through commercial partnerships in the expanding esports market.
