In June 2023, Infinite Reality terminated the employment of Chief Gaming Officer Michael O’Dell, a move that appeared to be unexpected for the executive. O’Dell had joined the company following its $470 million acquisition of ReKTGlobal in July 2022, where he had served as Chief Gaming Officer since 2019. During his tenure, he focused primarily on the operations of the London Royal Ravens, a Call of Duty League team, and KOI Esports.
The departure of O’Dell coincided with the London Royal Ravens ending their professional relationships with content creators Jukeyz and lMAngelikaa, who had been with the organization for over two years. While these personnel changes occurred simultaneously, Infinite Reality did not confirm whether these exits were part of a broader corporate restructuring or a wider series of layoffs.
O’Dell is a veteran figure in the esports industry, having founded the organization Dignitas and led it for over 15 years before its sale to Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment in 2016. Neither O’Dell nor representatives from Infinite Reality provided further comment regarding the specific circumstances surrounding his departure. The situation highlights ongoing personnel shifts within the esports sector following significant consolidation deals, such as the acquisition of ReKTGlobal by Infinite Reality.
