Games Lift Team Impawsible Games Launch Kickstarter Campaign for "Ninja Brigade"

Hamburg-based Impawsible Games, a studio that emerged from Gamecity Hamburg's 2020 Games Lift Incubator, launched a Kickstarter campaign on September 10, 2024 for its title "Ninja Brigade feat. Jonah Weingarten." The announcement, published by Gamecity Hamburg as part of its news coverage of alumni projects, positions the campaign as a milestone for a former incubator participant and runs through October 1, 2024.

Ninja Brigade is a fast-paced 2D pixel-art Metroidvania platformer set in feudal Japan. Players control hero Jonah Weingarten, who is drawn into an old arcade station and must fight hordes of Yokai and monsters, including bosses, to escape. Gameplay combines platforming, combat, fishing, and mini-games. The soundtrack is an original composition by Weingarten himself, a keyboardist with the symphonic metal bands Pyramaze and Catalyst Crime, which gives the game its distinctive musical hook and its title billing.

Impawsible Games was founded in 2021 by graduates of SAE Institute Hamburg and others, following the team's participation in the 2020 incubator. The studio's trajectory illustrates the incubator's role in moving teams from early-stage development to company formation and crowdfunding. The game also has a Steam page and the studio maintains its own website.
