Naz Aletaha, the Global Head of League of Legends Esports at Riot Games, has announced her departure from the company. After a tenure spanning more than 12 years, Aletaha will step down in the coming months to pursue new professional opportunities. This transition follows her return from a sabbatical that began in February 2024.
Aletaha’s career at Riot Games began in 2012, where she initially served as a senior manager of B2B payments before transitioning into leadership roles within global esports partnerships and business development. She assumed her most recent position as the Global Head of League of Legends Esports in 2021. Prior to her time at Riot, she held roles at Activision Blizzard and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The leadership transition is described as an amicable process. Chris Greeley, who has been with Riot Games for nearly eight years and has overseen the division's strategy for the past two years, will assume control of the LoL Esports team. Aletaha will remain with the company for several months to facilitate a smooth handover of responsibilities before her official exit in the fall.
