For Q2 2024, total net sales reached SEK 8.5 billion.
Embracer Group’s financial results for the second quarter of the 2024 fiscal year, ending September 30, 2024, reflect a period of significant structural transition characterized by asset divestment and declining revenues across its core gaming segments. The company reported net sales of SEK 8.5 billion, a 21% year-over-year decrease. While the firm narrowed its net loss to SEK 390 million from SEK 562 million in the prior year, the overall performance highlights the impact of recent business unit sales, including Gearbox Entertainment and Saber Interactive.
The company’s primary segments experienced broad contraction. PC and Console Games revenue fell by 46% to SEK 2.1 billion, driven by a lack of major new releases compared to the previous year’s performance of titles like Remnant II and Payday 3. Mobile Games revenue declined by 10% to SEK 1.35 billion, while Tabletop Games remained the largest revenue contributor at SEK 3.82 billion, despite a 6% year-over-year dip. Performance across the portfolio was mixed; while the launch of Satisfactory exceeded expectations with over 200,000 concurrent players, other titles like Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed underperformed relative to management targets.
A central development for the company is the announced $1.2 billion divestment of its mobile developer subsidiary, Easybrain, to Miniclip. Expected to close in early 2025, this transaction is a strategic move to strengthen the company’s balance sheet. Management anticipates that the sale will reduce net debt from SEK 13.2 billion to approximately SEK 500 million, providing greater financial flexibility for remaining entities. Moving forward, the company is focusing on its upcoming development pipeline, which includes Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, the Gothic 1 remake, and Killing Floor 3, as it seeks to stabilize its operations and improve long-term value.
