The Embracer Group fiscal year 2022 financial report highlights a period of significant expansion and robust revenue growth for the Swedish holding company. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022, the company reported total net sales of SEK 17 billion ($1.7 billion), representing an 89% year-over-year increase. Video game operations served as the primary driver of this performance, contributing SEK 13.9 billion ($1.39 billion) in net sales, a 116% increase compared to the previous year.
Operational efficiency and scale also saw substantial gains, with EBITDA reaching SEK 6.13 billion ($613 million), up 53.9% year-over-year. The company’s workforce more than doubled during this period, reaching 12,760 employees across 118 internal studios. This expanded infrastructure supports a massive development pipeline of 223 titles, 159 of which remain unannounced, with a strategic commitment to release over 25 AAA titles by March 2026.
The company’s growth strategy remains heavily anchored in aggressive mergers and acquisitions. Recent high-profile additions, such as Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, have provided the group with ownership of major intellectual properties including Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, and Thief. Management expressed a clear intent to leverage these assets through sequels, remakes, remasters, and transmedia projects. While the company maintains that it can achieve growth organically, it continues to evaluate a pipeline of potential bolt-on acquisitions to further strengthen its existing operative groups.
