Curvature Games Release The Amusement

Hamburg-based studio Curvature Games has released "The Amusement," an immersive narrative VR adventure, announced by Gamecity Hamburg on April 16, 2026. The game was developed over several years by a studio that is an alumnus of Gamecity Hamburg's Games Lift incubator program, and ARTE France is publishing it. It is available on both the Meta and Steam VR stores.

Players take the role of Samantha Burkhart, a young woman sent by her mother to investigate her late father's abandoned amusement park. Exploring the grounds, she uncovers mysterious clues, solves puzzles, and confronts childhood memories tied to her parents' difficult relationship. The park's design draws on real Luna Parks of the 1920s.

The technical centerpiece is "Redirected Walking," a proprietary technology from Curvature Games that translates each real-world step into the virtual environment to deepen immersion. The game also offers alternative locomotion methods including climbing, swinging, and cart rides. Players need only a 2x2-meter clear space or less, which lowers the barrier for home VR setups.

Curvature Games was founded in 2020 and has grown from a small team into a studio of several members producing virtual experiences, games, and XR content. The announcement also sits alongside other regional news, including the Games Lift 2026 call for applications (April 27 to June 1, offering five teams 15,000 euros each plus workshops, mentoring, and a 1,000 euro coaching budget), Portside Game Assembly on June 25–26, 2026, and other Hamburg releases such as Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown and MENACE in Early Access. Together these highlight Gamecity Hamburg's role in supporting local developers.
