The city of Chengdu, China, is set to host the Dota 2 BLAST Slam in November 2025. This development was confirmed through an official event schedule released by the Chengdu Sports Bureau, which outlines the city’s sports and esports programming for the second half of the year. While the tournament organizer, BLAST, has not yet issued a formal public announcement, reports indicate that the state-owned Chengdu Broadcasting Company will serve as the local tournament operator.
This event marks a significant milestone as the first international Dota 2 competition to be held in China since the onset of the pandemic. Although specific dates for the tournament remain undisclosed, the event is part of a broader surge in high-profile esports activity in the region. In November alone, Chengdu is scheduled to host three major international competitions: the League of Legends World Championship Grand Final, the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) tournament, and the Dota 2 BLAST Slam.
The selection of Chengdu as a host city underscores its growing status as a global hub for competitive gaming. The city previously demonstrated its infrastructure capabilities by hosting the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational and IEM Chengdu in 2024. While the prize pool for the upcoming event has not been finalized, previous iterations of the BLAST Slam in Copenhagen featured a $1 million USD purse, highlighting the significant financial scale associated with the tournament series.
