and he got pretty annoyed uh as there were big streamers uh pretty much confirming his saying and like it's because of him da da da da such as Mr. Beast. I mean like people with giant giant online influence. So there's literally boycotss being organized in Supercell uh sorry Clash Royale uh Red Dead
Two and a Half Gamers [music] exclusive.
Breaking news.
Literally [music] breaking.
Hello. Hello. This is another Twin Hall gamers news we round up. Um so let's get straight to it. So this week uh there was the annual letter of supercell CEO Il Capan which always brings a lot of let's say engagement to link especially uh there wasn't really anything revolutionary with it. Uh supercell
revenue went down actually 4% year-over-year from 2.65 billion to sorry from 3 billion to 2.65 billion. Uh a bit that was up. Uh, Supercell has around or all Supercell portfolio games around 290 million active players. It has doubled investment in new game development. Uh, and some other things such as like its innovation lab going up, headc count basically breaching like 900. It's like supercell, this whole supercell concept is no more. So, it's a basically a giant corporation now and so on so forth. Uh it would have been totally usual Ilka talking about again lack of innovation. Best games haven't been discovered yet. Da da da da da. The usual kind of supercell forte on creativity. [music] But it also sparked a big backlash because it talks about the
Clash Royale's kind of reinvigoration resurrection. It's crediting the team for it, especially the general manager. And uh this didn't go really well with the Clash Royale community. And if you remember, Clash Royale and whole Supercell is working on this army of YouTube influencers, which are either paid or unpaid. I'm guessing most of them are paid. And there was this one prominent streamer called Jinxy, which is literally credited with being the one that was uh behind this whole resurgence of Clash Royale. and he got pretty annoyed uh as there were big streamers uh pretty much confirming his saying and like it's because of him da such as Mr. Beast. I mean like people with giant giant online influence. So there's literally boycots being organized in Supercell [music] uh sorry Clash Royale's uh Reddit. Ilka had to issue an apology and literally update his letter which never happened.
So you can guess how serious this is. But yeah, it's the usual kind of internet online community show. Uh at least that's there. So we have a little bit of fun. But again, guess nothing's really changing Supercell going forward. Uh if you look at Clash Royale Revenue, it exactly did what I said in my post before during the scaling. It went up very drastically, but also went down very drastically. So they are pretty much getting where they were before this whole scaling phase and they're kind of quite close to that point. So let's see how this goes because there's not really that many games [music] to resurrect to these heights and I don't know what Supercell does afterwards. Anyway, let's continue. There's Riot Games laying off roughly 80 people from Duke KO. Uh if you remember that's their fighting game like one v one something like Street Fighter. Uh yeah, I guess this wasn't a great idea to begin with to be honest for a mobile
main primarily developer. It's I'm still think like this is one of those like angry bird style orio style moves like we have a strong IP. Let's throw it into every genre. See where sticks. So this one didn't stick. High guard uh after its launch is also laying most of the team again. We've been struck with these like very early after the launch immediate layoffs. So that continues. Ubisoft is doing what Ubisoft does best which is doesn't work as it should because there's strikes now because of worker unions because as we informed you before here you know that was cut basically to the five pieces of only mobile only crown jewels only console only shooters so [music] forth which I'm guessing will be just preparation for their sale eventually and uh yeah as expected uh people in French France if they're not happy they're protesting striking. So, there was a strike. It says here that
there were around 600 people, even though it was originally announced that there should be 1,200. But yeah, let's see. I guess this this just continues to decline. Uh to more positive news, there's uh the indie game. Yep. Yep. Which we got on the wish list Sonar on Steam. And we predicted that this game will be very good. And it is because in first week it sold 500,000 copies. And I guess we'll get the separate review on it soon as we predicted. So congrats to the team. And yeah, friends gets more and more stronger on Steam. Nexon revenue rises by 6.5% to 3.1 billion in 2025 driven mainly by the success of Arc Raiders. Or's new storydriven era launches double release day concurrent record. So basically they were something like 50k on Steam as for the concurrent uh users.
Now they [snorts] like pretty much ride all the way to 165k as for the new update. So let's see if this is stick if this sticks or it just like uh update what's new and then people get back to it. Applavin was releasing its Q4 earnings goal. Uh yeah it's basically printing money. Uh thanks home for giving me the latest here. So really the numbers that matter are that quarter over quarter over quarter was like 1.6 billion which is 66 uh% yearly gold of the fourth quarter and the overall revenue of 2025 was 5.4 5.5 basically billion which is plus 70% from from last year if I understand. So yeah, they basically are printing money. Uh Unity uh continues to slide uh because again they were also uh
announcing their earnings for Q4. So they're down like 30% that they're like like extremely going down. I guess there's multiple headwinds against them. Not that they probably also didn't have that their headwinds because they have the short sellers breing down their neck. Uh but Unity is I guess a little bit of a bigger pinch. So what's happening is again the stock dropped uh a lot uh recently and there's actually the co-founder David Helison uh leaving the company together with iron source co-founder Tom Barzie and who's stepping in Bernard Kim the EA mobile zinga guy that went to match group from gaming and is getting [music] back so more popcorn here and it's going to be interesting uh Australia Ian government calls for action from Roblox on untenable child safety concerns. Yeah, we'll be talking about it all this time. Roblox is just
like one step away from some kind of a [music] giant u child abuse scandal in my opinion and the stocks will just get hammered. So yeah, they said that they will do their system of like age rating and stuff like that. I literally seen videos of kids drawing pencil beards on them and passing this this whole verification check with like being assigned 100 years or whatever. So yeah, I don't think so this this like this has done what it is supposed to have done but yeah let's see as I said like probably some scandal or something happens and then we'll actually get some reelection going. Um, Hogo Games lends fresh investment and 10 million valuation to scale its production pipeline. Of course, it's a team from [music] Turkai, uh, where really it matters. 13 person team mainly invested by Noct Nocta games and Red X Games. It was the
prior backing [music] and uh studio is currently developing five PC titles while expanding its mobile portfolio and on mobile if I understand it does simulation titles such as business simulator, cinema simulator and rockstar live simulator. Last thing which is also a trailer uh or let's say a little bit of a uh call call to action to one of our latest episode which is Ark Knight's Enfield. I did the solo on this. I really recommend watching this. It's extremely bold iteration on the factory building genre with games like Factory and Satisfactory and Ark Knights already did 30 million just on mobile. It's crossplatform so it's definitely much more in first uh what something like not even first two months or first months sorry it launched January 20th so it's something like 20 days so this goes even higher. So, let's see. Again, this will be a spiky curve
because it's gacha based revenue when you like mihoyo style uh character and weapon based uh gacha. So, let's see. Yeah, that was it. Thanks for listening. Hope you had a great week. Hope uh you had a great games forum as we were all there. Hope you get uh safely out of Barcelona because there were pretty big problems with the winds. And yeah, hope to see you next week. See you around. Bye.

The current state of the gaming industry is defined by a sharp divergence between companies undergoing painful structural restructuring and those achieving significant growth through product-market clarity. While major legacy publishers face internal turmoil, layoffs, and labor unrest, indie developers and specialized platforms are demonstrating that high-quality execution remains a viable path to success despite broader market volatility.
Supercell’s recent annual letter highlights the challenges of maintaining a creative identity while operating as a large-scale corporation. The company faced significant community backlash regarding its narrative of a Clash Royale resurgence, which was attributed to influencer marketing rather than organic growth. Revenue data confirms that the game’s recent spike was short-lived, with performance returning to previous baselines. Simultaneously, industry-wide instability persists, evidenced by layoffs at Riot Games and Highguard, as well as union-led strikes at Ubisoft, which appear to be positioning the company for a potential sale. Unity also faces severe headwinds, with a 30% stock decline and a major leadership reshuffle, contrasting sharply with AppLovin, which reported a 70% year-over-year revenue increase to approximately $5.5 billion.
Despite these corporate challenges, specific segments are thriving. Indie titles continue to find success, with notable hits selling 500,000 copies in their first week. Established titles like Overwatch have seen record-breaking concurrent player counts following content updates, and Arknights: Endfield generated $30 million in its first three weeks. Furthermore, Nexon reported a 6.5% revenue increase to $3.1 billion, bolstered by the performance of ARK Raiders. These results underscore a clear industry trend: success is increasingly driven by product-market fit and strong execution, even as major public entities struggle to navigate shifting market demands and internal organizational pressures.
