Create free accounthello and welcome to is daily I'm John Jordan so today we looking at some financials were in the financial period where companies announcer we've been doing the last three months and coming we looking at today is VA mobile now a mor is it's a bit of a different one to analyze in any depth because it's part of the VA and he doesn't really break out a lot of kind of detail in exactly LP a mobile is working it just gives a headline figure really and that's their the kind of revenue for the quarter so the course I'm looking at is actually sees the period april may june 2015 which fourier confusingly is it q1 2016 just the way it runs it some kind of her calendar financial year over the good news for the a robot was that its revenue jeunet period was a record so that's 145 million dollars and that was up as i'm quite check out those up
seventeen percent compared to the previous quarter now just quick now these are the gap figures that's the generally accepted accounting practice which american companies have to use a digital media companies tend not to like to use those figures because there's restrictions on all they see is restrictive on how they could book their income anyway that's the figures of nestle accepted kind of figures that they have to do that's what we kind of use really to analyze them the other debate is a one for another time i guess and Bernie pretty impressive really um so EA is commit growing and we still come it's like to do um it's a record so more comments like tied a record as well and really interesting thing was during the course it didn't really release any kind of major game so obviously were in a situation now where games as a service is the thing ever talked about so obviously you have to release new games at some point but um help buddies you can have a game and you just build it and build it and the whole point is to kind of have a have it as a service of people play for months years even their silly what he a seems to have been doing so it really stay w I'm not a WWE
lemme get released a here holm UFC wrestling game and you know I'm didn't is kind of quite nice release for its audience but so clearly during the quarter what we've seen is easy a's existing portfolio so the games that we all you know know they've been around for years so the simpsons tapped out kind of real racing 3 the sims build it and that came out a year ago so those kind of games it has a lot of games or sports stuff that the thief is in the madness there's those games asks of are performing better in this quarter that having the previous quarter and what was particularly kind of interesting is any other kind of PA really announced was it's a monthly active user or player base and then actually declined so that was 150 million people played days of games in in the in the month fishing nets the month of june the last month of course sir but that was down ten nine percent so the previous quarter the
average at 165 so what we come see is even though the number of people playing games actively has declined attempts n is not massive decline but as clearly as you see it is a pic if i don't see really when they look from you games will go back up again but it seems seem to monetize a small user base better which is kind of something that all companies in this kind of game to the service field have to do it's very hard to continue to get new players in to drive yourself so you have to kind of get more out of the people who play and two degree that scum of the philosophy these games anyway because for more time you're spending playing these games and more likely you are to spend you the dpr and they gave me more texture onto the game so um yeah so the only thing is via a mobile that we don't get it we devoted company's profits we don't know how profitable is because he ain't doesn't break that out of its headline profits and so it can't really make any kind of an insight on into kind of how well it's mean one that point of view but from villu CEO of seems very pretty good quarter so what only a mobile come back tomorrow see what other companies even doing and if they've been as successful
see you then
EA Mobile achieved a record-breaking financial performance for the first quarter of the 2016 fiscal year, covering the period from April to June 2015. The division generated $145 million in revenue, representing a 17 percent increase over the previous quarter. These figures, reported under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, underscore a significant period of growth for the company despite the absence of major new game launches during the three-month window.
The primary driver of this revenue growth is the successful transition to a games-as-a-service model. Rather than relying on a constant influx of new titles, the company leveraged its existing portfolio of established games, such as The Simpsons: Tapped Out, Real Racing 3, and The Sims FreePlay. By continuously updating and expanding these titles, the company has successfully increased monetization per user, effectively offsetting a decline in the total player base. Monthly active users fell by approximately 9 percent, dropping from 165 million in the previous quarter to 150 million in June 2015.
This trend highlights a broader industry shift where long-term engagement and deep monetization of a dedicated core audience are prioritized over the acquisition of new players. While the company does not disclose specific profit margins for its mobile division, the revenue data suggests that the strategy of extending the lifecycle of core titles is yielding strong financial results. The ability to generate record income from a smaller, more engaged user base confirms the efficacy of the service-based approach in the current mobile gaming landscape.
