Create free accountso i'm an indie developer from poland my name is and i'm just releasing my first game a few days ago actually because we released a little people especially publishers and publish games now so we'll find other opportunities from sponsors or investors that would be interested in working with an indie dev guy that creates games and maybe have them published or invested and how important do you think these conferences are for the indie developer well i think i think they give the opportunity to meet the people that you wouldn't otherwise meet because you know just sending an email to someone from publishing company is completely different than meeting him as a great person so actually this conference is that you do a lot of networking i think
they are very important because the market gets very difficult these times for single indie developers it's not like two years ago so so i think it's a pretty big branch hub for people who want to play their own games meet other people in this kind of meetings and do you think this is the best networking opportunity here or a big indie pitch for the party in the evening well actually i think uh i think everywhere there's a good chance to meet people it depends who you are meeting so i'm not really sure how to answer this question i think that even meeting someone with a beer the evening is also very important as important as meeting and what challenges do you face growing your business in the current climate and is getting your game discovered the biggest issue yes it is yes actually getting game discovery is very difficult there are so many games published every day and there are very little studios but it's not a problem for small developers because the market is getting consolidated and the big publishers there are a few publishers that actually gather
all the all the revenue and all the visibility in the market so it's very difficult for a small team to get discovered so yeah this is the main problem and how easy do you find it engaging with the press and have you had a chance to meet many here yet yeah i've seen a few people i haven't been talking to any of them yet but i think there will be a chance for me to talk to them i just haven't haven't had the chance yet because there are so many people here today and what are your targets for this year and what mobile trends do you see dominating during the next 12 months well i see that market gets consolidated it's getting very difficult for indie developers to enter the market so i guess my plan will be to team up with some other people or to join some other team who has a publisher and responsors and investors it will help to actually gather visibility for the game that will be making and
and i think the market will continue to consolidate there will be a few main players and until the end of the year this trend will continue and is there anything extra that you you want to add about what we could be doing um with eg connect to help you to achieve that that maybe isn't already being done over these two days well actually what i really like about this pitch connect is the website that could that helped me organize a few meetings and other people write to me an email and schedule a meeting here inside to meet so i think it's a very good idea and that's pretty much it i really like the conference i really like the opportunities so that's all okay thanks very much
The mobile gaming market is undergoing a significant period of consolidation, creating a challenging environment for independent developers. As the volume of daily game releases increases, visibility has become the primary hurdle for small studios. A few dominant publishers are currently capturing the majority of market revenue and consumer attention, effectively marginalizing smaller teams that lack the resources to compete for discovery. This shift marks a departure from the landscape of two years prior, where independent developers faced fewer barriers to entry.
To navigate this increasingly difficult climate, independent developers must prioritize strategic collaboration and networking. Forming partnerships with other studios, securing backing from investors, or aligning with established publishers are essential tactics for gaining the necessary scale and visibility to survive. Industry conferences serve as vital hubs for these efforts, providing a platform for face-to-face interactions that are far more effective than cold outreach via email. Networking opportunities, whether through formal pitch sessions or informal social gatherings, are critical for building the professional relationships required to sustain a business.
Looking toward the remainder of 2014, the trend of market consolidation is expected to persist, with a small group of major players continuing to dictate industry dynamics. For individual developers, the path forward involves moving away from solitary operations toward collective efforts. Utilizing digital tools that facilitate meeting scheduling and professional matchmaking at industry events remains a key strategy for developers seeking to integrate into larger, more stable production ecosystems. By leveraging these connections, small teams aim to overcome the inherent disadvantages of the current mobile market and secure a foothold in an increasingly crowded space.
