Ubisoft
Ubisoft’s financial results for the first half of the 2017-18 fiscal year demonstrate a significant period of growth and operational improvement. The company reported sales of €466.2 million, a 65.7% increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. This performance was driven by a robust portfolio of new releases, including Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, and the continued success of established titles such as Rainbow Six Siege, Ghost Recon Wildlands, and For Honor. Notably, Assassin’s Creed Origins saw a 100% increase in sales compared to its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, during a comparable launch window.
The company’s strategic shift toward digital revenue and long-term player engagement yielded strong results, with digital revenue rising 69.1% to €342.6 million. Player Recurring Investment, which encompasses DLC, season passes, and subscriptions, grew by 82.9%, underscoring the success of the group's "live operations" model. This strategy contributed to a positive swing in non-IFRS operating income, which reached €3.1 million, a substantial improvement over the €61.8 million operating loss recorded in the first half of 2016-17.
Geographically, the company maintains a strong presence in North America and Europe, which together account for the vast majority of sales. The financial data reflects a commitment to expanding creative capacity, evidenced by the opening of new studios in Stockholm, Bordeaux, and Saguenay. Based on these results, management has confirmed its financial targets for the full 2017-18 and 2018-19 fiscal years. The company continues to prioritize high-quality game experiences and long-term support for its player communities to drive future profitability and shareholder value.
