The mobile gaming landscape for July 2020 was characterized by significant download volume, with My Talking Tom Friends emerging as the most installed title globally, securing approximately 36 million unique installs. The second-highest performer, Stack Colors!, followed closely with over 32 million downloads. These figures highlight the continued dominance of casual and hyper-casual gaming titles in the global market, with India and Brazil serving as primary drivers for the top-performing games.
The top five most downloaded mobile games for the month were rounded out by Subway Surfers, Garena Free Fire, and PUBG Mobile. Beyond these established titles, the market saw notable entry activity from new releases. Cube Surfer, Tie Dye, and Doctor Care successfully entered the rankings, generating 17.6 million, 16 million, and 15.6 million downloads, respectively. These additions underscore the rapid turnover and high consumer demand for new content within the mobile gaming sector.
Data for these rankings were derived from the Store Intelligence platform, covering worldwide unique installs across the Apple App Store and Google Play Store between July 1 and July 31, 2020. The methodology excludes pre-installed applications, Apple-developed apps, and third-party Android stores, focusing exclusively on aggregate installs of all versions for each title. This analysis provides a snapshot of global consumer preferences, emphasizing the significant influence of emerging markets on total download metrics during the mid-year period.
