The game achieved 41.2 million installs globally.
The mobile gaming landscape in December 2020 was defined by significant growth in download volume, led by titles that experienced massive year-over-year surges. Among Us secured the top position globally with 41.2 million installs, representing a 36-fold increase compared to the same period in 2019. Join Clash 3D followed in second place with approximately 29 million installs, marking a dramatic expansion of over 2,680 times its previous year’s performance. Other notable titles in the top five included Sushi Roll 3D, Roof Rails, and Shortcut Run.
The analysis highlights the impact of strategic market entries and brand recognition on global download rankings. Call of Duty: Mobile achieved its strongest performance since November 2019, driven by a successful late-December launch in China, which accounted for 58.5 percent of its 16.6 million monthly installs. Additionally, League of Legends: Wild Rift demonstrated the potential for established franchises to penetrate mobile markets, while Imposter Solo Kill emerged as a significant new entrant by leveraging a 3D, level-based adaptation of popular social deduction mechanics.
Data for these rankings were derived from the Store Intelligence platform, covering unique worldwide installs across the Apple App Store and Google Play throughout December 2020. The methodology excludes pre-installed applications, Apple-branded apps, and third-party Android marketplaces. The findings underscore a broader industry trend where both independent hits and major Western franchises are successfully scaling their user bases through targeted regional strategies and high-engagement gameplay models.
