Stream Hatchet
This represents an increase of approximately 155 million hours watched compared to the previous month. Major content updates, new game releases, and high-profile esports events drove this surge.
Live streaming viewership experienced significant growth in June 2024, with the top 100 games collectively generating approximately 155 million additional hours watched compared to the previous month, representing an 11% increase. This surge was primarily driven by major content updates, new game releases, and high-profile esports events. The data highlights a particularly strong performance for titles receiving new downloadable content, such as Elden Ring, which saw a 283% increase in viewership to reach 122 million hours, and Destiny 2, which grew by 149% to 26 million hours.
The massively multiplayer online (MMO) genre defied typical market trends where titles often compete for a finite audience. Instead, nearly all major MMOs on the leaderboard experienced simultaneous growth, including Old School RuneScape, Lost Ark, and Final Fantasy XIV. New entries like Tarisland and Pax Dei also successfully captured audience attention, with Tarisland accumulating 4 million hours watched shortly after its late-June release. Meanwhile, the survival genre saw notable success with the debut of Chained Together, which secured 15.8 million hours watched and claimed the 25th spot on the top 100 list.
Mobile gaming and esports also served as major catalysts for viewership in June. Garena Free Fire and BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA saw substantial gains tied to anniversary celebrations and tournament preparations. Similarly, mobile MOBAs like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Arena of Valor benefited from ongoing professional series, with the latter seeing viewership jumps exceeding 300%. These findings underscore the continued importance of content cycles and competitive gaming events in maintaining and expanding audience engagement across the global live streaming landscape.
