The mobile gaming industry experienced a mixed performance in October 2024, characterized by a slight contraction in consumer spending alongside a notable increase in global download volume. Worldwide consumer spending across the Apple App Store and Google Play reached $6.55 billion, representing a 0.7% month-over-month decline. Conversely, global mobile game downloads rose by 4.8% compared to the previous month, totaling approximately 3.9 billion installs. The United States remained the primary market for revenue, contributing 31% of the global total, while India led in download volume, accounting for 17% of all installs.
Honor of Kings maintained its position as the top-grossing mobile game globally, bolstered by a 10% revenue increase driven by successful anniversary events. Royal Match followed in the revenue rankings, generating $177 million in monthly in-app purchase revenue, while Last War: Survival, MONOPOLY GO!, and Whiteout Survival rounded out the top five. The revenue growth rankings saw significant movement from new titles, specifically Tree of Savior: Neverland, Age of Empires Mobile, and Pokémon TCG Pocket, all of which successfully leveraged nostalgic intellectual property and modernized mechanics to capture market share.
In the download category, Mini Games: Calm & Relax secured the top spot with nearly 26 million installs, followed by Garena Free Fire, which reached 1.76 billion lifetime downloads. Other high-performing titles in the download rankings included My Supermarket Simulator 3D, Block Blast!, and Roblox. The data, which excludes third-party Android markets, highlights a persistent trend where accessible, low-requirement games dominate emerging markets, while established franchises continue to drive significant monetization through live-service events and strategic content updates.
