The mobile gaming industry experienced a contraction in April 2025, with global consumer spending reaching $6.48 billion—a 4.5% decline from the previous month—and total downloads falling 8.4% to 3.93 billion. Despite this overall dip, the market remains highly competitive, driven by strategic live operations, intellectual property collaborations, and successful cross-platform launches. The United States maintained its position as the leading revenue market, accounting for 31.5% of global spending, while India emerged as the top market for downloads, representing 18.8% of the total volume.
Honor of Kings reclaimed the top-grossing position globally, bolstered by the Five-Five Friends Festival and strategic partnerships. It was followed in revenue by Last War: Survival, Whiteout Survival, MONOPOLY GO!, and Royal Match. Notably, Honkai: Star Rail saw the most significant revenue growth among top titles, rising 24 positions due to major content updates, while the newly released SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL demonstrated strong monetization potential.
In terms of user acquisition, Block Blast! retained its status as the most downloaded game, followed by ROBLOX, Free Fire, Subway Surfers, and Ludo King. The market also saw significant disruption from new entrants, most notably Delta Force, which achieved the highest growth in downloads and secured the sixth spot overall following a successful global rollout. Other titles like Cookingdom and the mobile adaptation of Once Human also demonstrated the efficacy of pre-registration campaigns and established IP in capturing new audiences. These trends underscore that consistent content updates and effective social media marketing remain the primary levers for sustaining engagement and driving growth in the current mobile landscape.
